Upcoming Events:
Adopt-a-Thon
May 2-4 we will be taking part in an adoption event being held at local Petsmart stores. We will be at both the Gateway Park Drive and Hespeler Road locations. Spring has definitely arrived here at the shelter, as we will have 40 kittens available for adoption this weekend. All adoptions are cash only.
Poochie Power Walk 2008
Our 2008 Annual dog walk-a-thon will be held June 21st at Riverside Park in Cambridge.
The walk begins at 11:00 a.m. and is followed by a day of "dog gone" fun including a BBQ & refreshment stand, silent auction, pet fashion show, information and sale kiosks, dog agility demonstrations, prizes, contests and games for both pets and people.
We were very successful with last years' event and we are hoping to have an even better year. The more money we raies, the more lives that can be saved!
All proceeds raised from the event will go directly to the shelter to care for the stray and abandoned animals. In the past year we have helped 2800 animals in our own community, and have continued our rescues and adoptions for many animals in other Ontario and USA shelters. With your support we can continue to help ALL animals in need.
Pledge sheets will be available around the middle of April at local vet clinics, pet stores, at the shelter, and a printable form will be available right here on our website.
If you know of a business that would be interested in having a vendors’ booth or in donating and item for this event please send them our way. We are always looking for new faces at the walk and fun donations of items for our participants.
We are anticipating with your help and support that this years’ event will be a huge success.
Thank You Arby's
The employees of our local Arby's Restaurant on Hespeler Road held a fund raiser over the Christmas season raising $1,000 for the animals at the shelter. We wish to take this opportunity to express our thanks. (Pictured below, Arby's manager and two employees accepting a plaque to show our gratitude)

A New Partnership
The Cambridge & District Humane Society has recently joined forces with SNAP Cambridge, a local monthly news source. SNAP Cambridge will be featuring an available adoption animal at the shelter each month. They have graciously given us a discounted price in order to assist us with adoptions and with this great opportunity. We are desperately looking for any businesses that may be willing to participate in our new partnership. The article would then feature an animal from the shelter and the logo of the business sponsoring the article. It’s a win-win situation as advertising for both the shelter and the sponsor would be prominent. Anyone interested in sponsoring please call the shelter. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to SNAP Cambridge for their help and support of the Cambridge & District Humane Society.
